We are currently working with our colleagues at Carlisle Healthcare to begin to offer half day health clinics to our Asylum Seekers in Carlisle. The closure of the Asylum hotels across the country has resulted in our Asylum Seeker community being dispersed across the city.
Due to many barriers, including the most obvious of language, these individuals find navigating our health care system and trying to get even the most basic of advice very difficult. We are now looking to provide weekly clinics at a community centre, offering routine GP appointments with the support of our translation service and the centre itself.
We look forward to welcoming this community and helping them with any primary care issues they may have.
