Formerly known as CHoC

Welcome to Cumbria Health, your trusted partner in comprehensive healthcare services

We are proud to be a trusted healthcare provider, formerly known as CHoC, delivering primary health care services within and out of hours to the population of Cumbria and beyond.

Celebrating 30 Years

Thirty years ago, a small group of Cumbrian GPs came together with a simple but important goal: to make sure no patient in the county was left without care when their local surgery was closed.

What began as a GP cooperative has grown into Cumbria Health, an organisation now made up of 670 dedicated people, six GP practices, 17 clinical sites, and services supporting more than 528,000 people across 2,613 square miles of one of England’s most rural counties.

Over the last three decades, healthcare has changed dramatically, but our purpose has remained the same: providing high-quality, compassionate care for the communities we serve. From out-of-hours services to urgent care, primary care, and community support, our story has always been about people, the patients who trust us and the teams who make exceptional care possible every day.

Our patients are at the heart of all we do
  • The GP I saw was very thorough and took time to explain everything. I was treated with respect and care.
  • The nurse practitioner who supported my daughter was absolutely fantastic. I genuinely felt listened to and reassured. I can not remember her name however, she was fantastic and I would highly recommend her care
  • Honestly could not fault the service, everyone that dealt with myself was incredible. Everyone that was on shift I would personally like to thank for taking such good care of me
  • Couldn't have had better care. I appreciate everyone who worked so hard to get me the appointment and the medication I needed .
  • Excellent service from start to finish, can’t fault my experience and how swiftly my symptoms and concerns have been dealt with, thank you very much
  • As a patient in pain and having concerns about my condition I was treated brilliantly by the doctor and reception staff who were polite, knowledgeable and very kind. I really appreciated the treatment I was given and cannot thank the staff highly enough, they were wonderful.
