Here to Help You Stay in Work or Get Back to It, With the Right Support

The North Cumbria NHS Work Well Service, part of the NENC ICB Health and Growth Programme, is a new initiative delivered by Cumbria Health in partnership with local support organisations. The service is designed to help people who are finding it difficult to remain in work, or who are off sick due to a physical or mental health condition. 

We’ll support you to take control of your health and get back on track with your working life.

Who We Support

This service is for working-age adults who: 

• Are currently in work but at risk of leaving due to a health condition 

• Are temporarily off sick due to a health condition 

• Are not currently working (economically inactive) for a short time due a health conditions. 

• Have had one or more fit notes (Med 3) in the past six months. 

• Live in North Cumbria and have the right to work in the UK

How We Help

You’ll be matched with your own Work Coach, who will help you create a plan that fits your needs. 

They’ll support you with your health, wellbeing, finances, and more, and can connect you with local experts for any extra help you might need, gently guiding you as you work towards returning to work. 

Your Work Coach can also talk with your employer about any adjustments or flexible working arrangements you might need to help you stay in or return to work.

What You Can Expect

A Phone Call
A call from your Work and Health Coach within 5 working days of referral.
Face-to-Face Appointments
A face-to-face appointment within 2 weeks.
Support Plans
A support plan lasting around 12–16 weeks, tailored to your needs.
Trusted Contact
A trusted point of contact who supports you throughout your time with us.

Accessing the Service

The North Cumbria Work Well Service launches 1st October 2025. 

You can take the first step by signing up below or ask a health or community professional to refer you. Either way, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
