For emergencies call 999
For out of hours healthcare call 111
We are proud to be a trusted healthcare provider, formerly known as CHoC, delivering primary health care services within and out of hours to the population of Cumbria and beyond. We originated as an out of hours primary health care provider in 1996, going on to cover a population of approximately 500,000 people, 365 days a year across Cumbria.
From these strong roots we have grown to be much more than an out of hours provider, we now deliver various other health services for the benefit of the patients we serve.
We have a network of 6 GP Practices across Cumbria, ensuring our rural communities can access reliable and high quality primary care services close to home. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation in healthcare, using technology-enabled solutions to better care for our patients, their families and communities.
Our patients are at the heart of all we do, we want to provide every patient with responsive, high quality and forward thinking health care. We have strong relationships with other health providers and strive for excellence in all we do, working together as one team, connecting and engaging with our local communities to meet their needs.
At Cumbria Health, we are committed to fostering a fair and inclusive workplace. Our Gender Pay Gap Report provides transparency on the pay differences between male and female employees and highlights the steps we are taking to reduce the gap.
We are dedicated to ensuring equal pay for equal work and continue to make progress towards gender equality.

A Social Enterprise is a business driven by a mission to benefit people and the planet. Unlike traditional businesses, our purpose isn’t profit—it’s creating positive change. As a recognised Social Enterprise since 2014 and proud members of Social Enterprise UK, we’re part of a global movement of organisations committed to building a fairer, more sustainable future.
What This Means for Us
Being a social enterprise is at the heart of everything we do. It’s a commitment to reinvesting the majority of any surplus we generate into causes that matter—whether that’s improving health, supporting our communities, or caring for the environment.
Our Social Enterprise Committee
In 2016, we took this commitment even further by creating the Cumbria Health Social Enterprise Committee, an employee-led group dedicated to identifying and supporting initiatives that benefit our communities. Through this committee, we’ve funded more than 70 incredible causes, making a meaningful difference in Cumbria and beyond.
Here are just a few of the amazing projects and organisations we’ve contributed to:
- Cancer Research
- Great North Air Ambulance
- Hospice at Home - West Cumbria
- Beach Clean Up
- Eden Valley Hospice
- MIND
- First Class Kids Nursery
Every contribution reflects the passion and commitment of our team to create real and lasting change.
Why It Matters
Our status as a social enterprise isn’t just a badge—it’s a symbol of the values we live by every day. By being part of Cumbria Health, each of us is contributing to a purpose that extends far beyond our organisation. Together, we’re making a difference to lives, communities, and the environment.
