Formerly known as CHoC

Welcome to Cumbria Health, your trusted partner in comprehensive healthcare services

We are proud to be a trusted healthcare provider, formerly known as CHoC, delivering primary health care services within and out of hours to the population of Cumbria and beyond.

Welcome to our service

As the Chief Executive of Cumbria Health, I am incredibly proud to lead a dedicated team of healthcare professionals who are committed to providing exceptional primary care services to our communities across Cumbria.

Our journey began with out-of-hours urgent care, which remains the engine room of our organisation. We take immense pride in the vital role this service continues to play, ensuring that urgent care is always available when our patients need it most. This commitment to providing accessible, timely care has shaped who we are today, and it remains at the core of our values.

At Cumbria Health our values, which are displayed above, are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in collaboration and partnership, working closely with our patients, local communities, other healthcare providers, and key stakeholders to ensure we deliver the best possible care. By engaging with everyone involved, we create services that truly reflect and respond to local needs. Our partnerships are broad, and include soon launching a multidisciplinary health hub in Whitehaven, which will bring together specialists from various fields to offer comprehensive care under one roof. Additionally, we are collaborating with local councils to introduce workplace health checks across Cumbria, bringing essential health services directly to people where they work.

This spirit of collaboration is essential as we continue to deliver innovative solutions, such as our BP@Home service, which allows people to remain safely monitored at home. We strive for High Standards and excellence in everything we do, ensuring that care is accessible, efficient, and centered around the needs of our communities.

Recently, we opened a new dental access centre at our headquarters in Carlisle, providing crucial emergency dental care to patients who struggle to access it. This service is available via 111, further strengthening our commitment to meeting urgent local needs.

Please take the time to explore our website and discover the full range of services we offer. We welcome your feedback and are committed to continuously improving how we care for you and your family.

Our patients are at the heart of all we do
  • From the initial telephone call handlers to the follow up phone calls with the Pharmacist and Drs, including 3 x F2F appointments and physical examinations undertaken at Penrith Urgent Care Centre, the service the Cumbria Health team provided to us was excellent.
  • The nurse was very considerate towards us both, knowing we were on holiday and aware travel logistics were difficult, discussed our possible options reassuring us whilst doing so.
  • Each one of them was like speaking to a family member or friend as they took me through the process, on some days, of counting his breath, a thing I had never done before. This continued for 14 days and I felt totally safe with him.
  • I was shown nothing but understanding, thoroughness and support.
  • Your clinician calmed me down and really made me feel at ease. I couldn’t have asked for a better service.
  • The clinician proved to us his professionalism, exceptional medical skills and ability to empathise with his patents. It made me feel better just seeing him.
  • Cumbria Health really did make a trip for medical treatment while on holiday at Center Parcs so easy and for that I am forever grateful.
  • I wish to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the wonderful service I received on both occasions. From the initial contacts with control, to the triage consultations and the home visits…I couldn’t have asked for a better service.
  • I cannot thank you all enough for the guidance you gave to me and the care and support you provided to my mother on such busy weekends.
